Different Types Of Dog & Puppy Training

If you are having puppy problems or difficulty with your older dog, you may be considering dog training to achieve a well-behaved pet.  Training courses and programs are available at local pet stores as well as online to choose from.  But before you start any training, it’s important to know which level and type of class you should chose for your dog.  There are different types of training and different “grades” or levels as well based on where your dog is at and what you expect for results.

Dog Training Levels

Other courses may include clicker or treat training (using a clicker or treat as positive reinforcement). Specialty training programs are also available if you plan to work, show, or compete your dog.  These special training classes may include:  agility, assistance dogs, herding, protection/security, problem solving, search and rescue, as well as additional service dog, work dog, and competitive dog training programs.

When considering a dog training program for your puppy or older dog, finding the type and level of dog training that best suits your dog is important.  A class that is too basic may be nothing more than review for your dog.  Likewise, a class that is too advanced may be overwhelming for your dog and you as well. There are many courses available for puppy training online as well as for older dogs that are proven methods that have worked for many.
